Abstract

Push Net Vessel is one of the vessels used by fishermen to carry out fishing operations. To carry out fishing operations, fuel is needed as the main component of the engine drive. The factors that affect the amount of fuel used by fishing vessels include Fishing Trip, Ship Tonnage, Engine Power and Engine Age. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of fishing trips, ship tonnage, engine power, and engine age on the amount of fuel carried by push net vessels in the Selat Akar Waters. This research was conducted in February 2023 until completion and was located in Selat Akar Village, Tasik Putri Puyu District, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. This research was conducted using a quantitative method. The quantitative method is a research method based on the philosophy of positivism, used to research certain populations or samples. The data obtained are in the form of the amount of fuel used, fishing trips carried out in hours, ship tonnage in GT units, engine power in PK units, engine age in years. Furthermore, it was analyzed using SPSS 23. The results showed that fishing trips, ship tonnage, engine power and engine age had a significant effect together on fuel consumption on push net vessels in Selat Akar Village, Tasik Putri Puyu District, Meranti Islands Regency. This is because the longer the fishing trip, the greater the ship tonnage with engine power, and the older the engine used, the greater the amount of fuel consumption.
