Freshwater lobster is a genus of freshwater crustaceans that has relatively high market demand. Red tilapia is a type of freshwater fish that is highly sought after by both households and restaurant owners due to its affordable price and high protein content. The polyculture system is the application of a single pond that raises various types of fish that require different foods, so that each type of fish does not compete for food. This research was conducted from February to April 2025 in the Laboratory. Cultivation Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau. This study aims to determine the optimal stocking density of red tilapia that affects the survival and growth of freshwater lobsters in a polyculture system. Conducted for 56 days at the Cultivation Technology Laboratory of Universitas Riau, the study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five tilapia density treatments (0, 15, 20, 25, and 30 fish/75 liters) and three replications. The results showed that the treatment with 20 tilapia (P2) produced the best lobster growth, with a weight of 8.97 g, a length of 3.38 cm, and a specific growth rate of 3.60% per day, significantly higher than in other treatments (p < 0.05). Tilapia in this treatment also showed weight increases (5.46 g), length (5.05 cm), and feed efficiency (49.21%), with 100% survival across all treatments. Water quality throughout the study remained optimal, supporting both species. Water quality includes a temperature of 27.4–32.3 °C, a pH of 6.1–7.7, dissolved oxygen (DO) of 2.5–7.3 mg/L, and ammonia of 0.0103–0.1678 mg/L.
